Putting Evidence to Practice Workshop, Brussels, 21-22 September PDF Print E-mail
Oncology Nurses and Nurse Managers to participate in a two days workshop on Implementation of Clinical Guidelines in Symptom Management.

Following the adaptation of Putting Evidence to Practice (PEP) guidelines developed by ONS (USA) to European practice in five symptoms by European Oncology Nursing Experts, the Brussels workshop will focus on implementation. Participants of this workshop will share best practices and will be piloting the new guidelines in practice. More information can be found on the EONS website.

This competition was organised as a part of the EPAAC Health Promotion and Prevention Work Package, to promote the European Week Against Cancer in the youth population.
European School of Screening Management PDF Print E-mail
The European Partnership for Action Against Cancer is proud to announce the
European School of Screening Management, a two-week intensive training course on the
principles, organization, evaluation, planning and management of cancer screening programmes.

The first module is to be held in Lyon, France, from 19-23 November 2012 at the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
The second module to be held optionally at another place in the EU on 11-15 March 2013.
This action falls under the EPAAC Work Package 6, Screening and Early Diagnosis.

The course aims to improve implementation of cancer screening as currently recommended by
the European Union, by introducing a comprehensive curriculum to interested staff of national
or regional cancer screening management and evaluation units. Any other staff or
professionals currently collaborating with established units or currently planning or interested
in implementing cancer screening programmes are also eligible to participate.
The multidisciplinary training will cover topics essential to planning and coordination of
population-based programmes of Cervical, Breast and Colorectal Cancer Screening (week 1),
and practical solutions to current problems presented by the participants will be developed
(week 2).

The Proposal for European Cancer Information System (ECIS) PDF Print E-mail
We are proud to present the proposal for European Cancer Information System (ECIS). This updated version was created as a result of Work Package 9 (Information and Data) disccussions with EUROCARE, ENCR, IARC, OECI, JRC and DG SANCO and is in line with the EU health strategies of recent years.

The ECIS proposal will be presented at the coming EPAAC OPEN FORUM in Rome, on 19- 20th June, and a specific open session on Cancer Information & Data is scheduled on June 20th between 14:00 – 18:00.

Workshop on "Quality criteria for health checks", The Hague, 23-25 May, 2012 PDF Print E-mail

The first Workshop project team meeting of the CEN Workshop 68 on "Quality criteria for health checks" will take place on 23-25 May 2012 in the Hague, the Netherlands. During this meeting the project team will review source materials and prepare the first draft for workshop consideration.

In Flashmob_May_26_copythe spirit of the European Week Against Cancer, the EPAAC Health Promotion and Prevention team is organising flash mob events on May 26 2012, in Rome, Paris, Barcelona and Ankara to encourage youth involvement in the dissemination of the European Code against Cancer (http://www.cancercode.eu/).

European dancers are invited to participate using the same music and choreography as shown here.
On May 23, a flash mob will be held at 5pm in Brussels, Carrefour de l'Europe (between Gare Centrale and Hotel Meridien). Rehearsal will be at 4pm, in Parc Royal (kiosque à musique).

European Week Against Cancer, ROME, 31 May - 1 June 2012 PDF Print E-mail

Join us for the 2012 Political Roundtable and Scientific Conference within the European Week Against Cancer in Rome, Italy, between 31th May and 1st June! Delegates from many different countries, including Special Guests, Prof. Umberto Veronesi (European Institute of Oncology) and Mr. Mario Pescante (Vice-President of the International Olympic Committee), will discuss Tobacco Control, Screening and Healthier Lifestyles, giving you insights into current political thinking and scientific developments in cancer prevention and control.
The Conference will be hosted by the Italian Cancer League (LILT) and be held at the Italian Ministry of Health. The Official conference languages will be English and Italian. The Political Roundtable is scheduled for 31 May 2012: 13:00 to 18:00 and the Scientific Conference for 1 June: 9:00 to 16:00.

Launch of the European Week Against Cancer Youth Competition PDF Print E-mail

As part of the activities for the European Week Against Cancer 25 – 31 May this year, the Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL) is organising a poster competition for youth all over Europe.

The European Week Against Cancer (EWAC) Youth Competition encourages students to learn how cancer can be prevented by creating posters and videos that communicate effectively one or more messages of the European Code Against Cancer.

The EWAC Youth Competition is a part of the EPAAC Work Package 5, Health Promotion and Preventionh.

The competition is open to groups of 3-5 students aged 11-18 from across the European Union! Enter to win fantastic prizes such as iPads, iPods, digital cameras and a trip to Rome!

National Cancer Plan Collection now Online! PDF Print E-mail

The National Cancer Plans of EU Member States are now available online (National Cancer Plans). For the majority of countries, you can find the National Cancer Plan in the original language, as well as translated in English or with an English summary.

The National Cancer Plan Collection is a part of the EPAAC Work Package 10, National Cancer Plans.
