European Standards of Care for Children with Cancer Document Available PDF Print E-mail

Together with SIOPE, in October 2011 the Polish Ministry of Health organised a meeting in Warsaw, Poland, to promote the 'European Standards of Care for Children with Cancer', a consensus document on the minimum standards that institutions should have when caring for our young patients, in order to address inequalities in Europe (here you can find a report and presentations being made during the meeting). These Standards have been agreed both by patient and parent groups and professionals, in cooperation with the Polish "Communication without Barriers Foundation".

The production and dissemination of these documents is an important part of the EPAAC WP 7, Healthcare

Highlights from the Standards include:

  - Recommended staffing levels for the paediatric haematology/oncology ward
  - Components of care in a specialist facility
  - Delivery of Therapy
  - Monitoring the late outcomes of cancer
  - Psychological and Psychosocial Care
  - The rights of the hospitalised child
  - The critical role of parents

Minutes of Steering Committee Ljubljana Now Available for Download PDF Print E-mail

The minutes and participant lists of the following meetings in Ljubljana: Advisory Committee, Editorial Board, Meeting of the Working Group on National Plans, Steering Committee, can now be found here. The meetings were constituted the second set of meetings in the lifecycle of the EPAAC Joint Action and were held on 29-30 September 2011 in Ljubljana.

The First Open Forum Successfully Launched PDF Print E-mail

The European Partnership for Action Against Cancer successfully launched its first Open Forum. The event was hosted by the Spanish Ministry of Health, Social Policy and Equality and cast a spotlight on Healthcare and Research in the cancer fields. The Open Forum spanned two days, from 14 to 15 June 2011.

Successful kick-off meeting of the EPAAC Joint Action PDF Print E-mail

On 1-2 March 2011 the first Joint Action meeting of the coordinator and the lead partners of the EPAAC Joint Action was held in Dublin. The meeting took place in a very positive atmosphere and was marked by the will of all partners to act together.

Kick-Off Meeting for Healthcare Work Package (Work Package 7) PDF Print E-mail

The ICO - Istitut Catalá d'Oncologia  organised the Kick-Off meeting for the Healthcare Work Package (Work Package 7), which took place on 12 and 13 May in Barcelona.  This two-day event was organized in order to share knowledge on palliative care, evidence based guidelines and the implementation of guidelines on rare cancers. WP 7 Leader, Dr Josep Borras  and  his staff organized a fruitful event, launching the objectives and activities planned in the framework of WP 7.
